Dormer A095 Jobber Drill Sets

The Jobber Drill Sets That Deliver Bang-On Accuracy Every Time

Dormer A095 Jobber Drill Sets – 1mm–6mm & 6mm–10mm (0.1mm Increments)

If you’re running CNC machines or simply appreciate a quality set of drills, the Dormer A095 Jobber Drill Sets are hard to beat. I recently purchased seven sets — both the 1–6mm and 6–10mm ranges — so each CNC machine in the shop has its own dedicated set of sharp, ready-to-go drills.

The A095 series are made from high-speed steel (HSS) with a Titanium Nitride (TiN) coating that provides excellent wear resistance, reduced friction, and an extended service life. They meet DIN 338RN / BS 328 / ISO 235 standards and come in a robust plastic case — a real improvement over the older metal versions. The plastic cases are sturdier, and the drills sit more securely with far less wobble, keeping everything neatly organised and well protected.

What really sets these drills apart is their accuracy. They cut precisely to size, even without piloting, thanks to Dormer’s refined flute geometry and efficient chip-breaking design. Swarf clears beautifully — you’d have to be very unlucky to end up with a tangle using these.

Over the years, I’ve used plenty of brands, but Dormer drills have consistently stood out for their quality and consistency. I still have a few from the first set I bought in the late 1980s as an apprentice — paid for weekly through the tool club — and they’re still cutting clean today.

While they’re not ideal for tougher or exotic alloys, the A095s are outstanding for aluminium grades such as HE15 and HE30, castings, and engineering plastics like nylon and acetal. For this type of work, they’re reliable, accurate, and long-lasting — a solid choice for any production or toolroom environment. Dormer has long set the benchmark for quality drills, and the A095 range continues that tradition.

Our Verdict

The Dormer A095 Jobber Drill Sets are everything you’d expect from Dormer — dependable, precise, and built to last. They deliver excellent results in everyday materials like aluminium (HE15, HE30) and castings, holding tight tolerances and producing clean, accurate holes with minimal effort.

Their TiN coating and superior flute design make them a pleasure to use, and the fact that they cut true to size without piloting is a real bonus in production settings. For CNC shops, toolrooms, and anyone who values consistency, these sets are a solid investment.

They’re not the go-to choice for tougher or exotic alloys, but within their range, they perform brilliantly. A true workshop staple that earns its keep every day.
